Examinations

All exam candidates must schedule testing appointments online or by phone with PSI at 1-800-733-9267. The Board examination vendor will change to D.L. Roope September 13, 2010.

  • Cosmetology, manicurist and esthetics practical exams are given at 3000G Industrial Drive Raleigh, NC 27609.
  • Teacher practicals are given at 1201 Front Street Suite 110 Raleigh, NC 27609.
  • Due to heath and safety issues, spray disinfectant and tripods will not be allowed

    Please note: manufacturer's labels are required on all disinfectants and sanitizers and all sculptured nail products must be in the original container with the manufacturer’s label indicating that it is “odorless"
    Listed optional services are required.
    Cosmetology: Blow dry styling shaping, pincurl placement, facial and manicure
    Esthetics:Hair removal with hard wax on upper lip area

    You must register for your exam with your LEGAL first and last name as it appears on your government issued identification. All required identification below must match the first and last name under which you registered. Candidates are required to bring two (2) forms of valid (non-expired) signature bearing identification to the test site. One of the identifications presented must be a Government issued identification with photograph and signature. Photocopies of identification will NOT be accepted. Candidates may present two forms of ID: One Primary and One Secondary.

    PRIMARY IDENTIFICATION – Choose One

  • Current Government issued driver’s license
  • Current Government issued identification card
  • Current Government issued Issued Passport
  • Current Government issued Military Identification Card
  • Current Government issued Alien Registration Card
  • SECONDARY IDENTIFICATION – Choose One

  • Credit Card (must be signed)
  • Social Security Card
  • US issued Birth Certificate with Raised Seal
  • IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
  • *NOTE: Student ID and employment ID are NOT acceptable forms of identification.

    Candidates must register with the full legal name as it appears on their government issued identification. The name on the identification must be the same as the name used to register for the examination. If the candidate fails to bring proper identification or the candidate names do not match, the candidates will not be allowed to test and their examination If ID and candidate information do not match the candidate may be turned away.

    Any candidate in need of special arrangements must use the ADA Special Arrangements Request Form
